Garmin Nuvi 265Wt Reviewed.

Garmin have a new GPS system to offer consumers- the Nuvi 265Wt.

This model has retained the rectangular shape of its predecessors, along with the grey/black colouring that makes it a relatively good-looking (if not exactly pretty) product.

Garmin have produced a big, clear 4.3. inch screen on this one, and it demonstrates fantastic ease-of-use; I’d wager that even the least tech-savvy amongst you could operate the Nuvi without the instruction manual.

Another great feature is the inclusion (finally) of a QWERTY keyboard, which means no more fiddling when typing your destination (a defining characteristic of cheaper models).

As is becoming standard with modern GPS systems, this one has text-to-speech, traffic messaging, Bluetooth connectivity and speed camera warnings.

It also has a surprisingly sleek and unobtrusive traffic antenna which plugs directly into your car’s cigarette lighter.

Although the text-to-speech often gets confused by words of Aboriginal nature, the performance is easily up to scratch, although there is unfortunately no way to get it to avoid certain roads on your route. That being said, the device will get you from A to B and back again without much fuss.

The only real minus point on this one is the lack of a sleep function. This sounds trivial, but it has the knock on effect of you having to wait roughly 20 seconds every time you turn it on for it to connect to various satellite networks etc. This isn’t a problem during everyday activities, but can get annoying if you’re in a serious rush.
